Job description
Responsibilities
Responsible for tuning complex SQL queries, procedures and indexing strategies for better performance
Identify missing indexes on the databases and implement it for better performance
Analysis of long running, execution plans and provide recommendations to improve performance
Should have experience in transaction replication in replicating large size tables from large databases
You will analyze, design, develop, test, maintain and implement database solutions within Thomson Reuters suite of applications
Working with other disciplines, such as software, product, architecture, dev/ops, and performance, you will design the best product solutions
You will use your expertise to provide technical leadership for an application development team
Performing full life cycle SQL/NoSql code and model development, including researching technical options for features, providing guidance and feedback on the findings and building proof of concepts to confirm the best approach
Create solutions utilizing the best data storage technology for the use case (i.e. RDBMS, NoSql, Data Lake, etc.)
Work with performance engineers to monitor system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance and availability
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Assist developers with complex query tuning, schema refinement, and determining differences between releases/environments
Performs database code/script/package reviews
Job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a CS, Engineering, or related field
7+ years of developing for MS SQL Server or performing Database Engineering duties
Experience with relational databases reaching over 10TB
Heavy performance tuning experience and SQL optimization
Experience with non-traditional methods of performance tuning
Mentorship abilities required
Ability to work shoulder to shoulder with development teams.
