Job description

This is a contract (SOW) position.  We are seeking a skilled Cloud Data Analyst to play a critical role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This position will involve building our data pipelines using dbt and BigQuery as well as creating insightful visualizations and providing data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Transformation and Modeling:

    • Design, develop, and maintain data transformations using dbt (dbt Developer Hub) to create well-defined data models for analysis.

    • Leverage BigQuery as the primary data warehouse to store and manage large datasets.

    • Write efficient and optimized SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and aggregate data.

    • Implement best practices for data quality, consistency, and integrity within the data pipeline.

    • Proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies and issues.

  • Data Visualization and Reporting:

    • Develop clear and compelling data visualizations and dashboards using Looker, Power BI or other visualization tools to communicate findings effectively.

    • Create dashboards that are actionable, insightful, and aligned with business objectives.

    • Collaborate with product owners to understand their needs and translate them into appropriate data visualizations and reports.

    • Ensure accuracy and consistency of all data presented.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:

    • Interpret data and translate complex findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights.

    • Develop and present data-driven recommendations to improve business performance and support strategic decisions.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Partner with product owners to understand their data needs and provide them with the necessary information and support.

    • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on data strategy and best practices.

    • Document data processes, methodologies, and findings when required.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Required: Proven experience with data transformation using dbt.

    • Required: Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with BigQuery as a data warehouse.

    • Required: Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards using one or more of the following tools: Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.

    • Preferred: Experience with other data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).

    • Preferred: Basic understanding of scripting languages like Python.

  • Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

    • Ability to interpret complex datasets and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present data and insights to diverse audiences.

    • Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and stakeholders.

  • Experience:

    • 2-4 years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a related role.

    • Experience working with large datasets and complex data environments.

    • Experience in understanding business needs and translating them into data-driven solutions.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
